Books

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another discussion! I would like to thank those of you who continue to view my blog, despite the fact that it takes forever for things to get posted. Thank you for your patience.

Well, I have decided to talk about books today.
Books! What mysteries lie beneath their covers?
What treasures are buried between the pages?

Well, I have come to answer these questions! For I am, Daniel the Discussionare and I will uncover the secrets that have been long hidden from Civilized Man. We shall start by talking about the fact that books are used a lot in my house. Whether for educational or recreational purposes, it truly depends upon the person and their mood. Because of the fact that I have such a large family that I am around all the time, I have a front row seat in the theater of book perspectives. Due to this, I believe that there are 4 kinds of perspectives on books: "Book reading is a punishment", "Willing, but not eager", "Book reading is important", and "My idea of a good time, is reading". I shall first state my evidence then proceed to prove my point.

Every member of my family falls into one of these categories:

  • my youngest brother falls into the category, "Willing, but not eager"
  • my second youngest brother falls into the category, "Book reading is a punishment"
  • my third youngest brother falls into the same category as the youngest, "Willing, but not eager"
  • my younger sister falls into the category of, "Book reading is important"
  • I fall into the category that is right in between, "Willing, but not eager" and "Book reading is important"
  • my mother falls into the category, "My idea of a good time is reading"
  • my father falls into the category, "Book reading is important"

Now, you might be saying, "Hey, Daniel, how can you be in between two categories?" and you have a point there. For that reason I have just added another category to the previous list: "Other". So now that I have stated my evidence, I shall prove my point. Just last night, the Three Littles (that is the name my family appointed to my three brothers) were fighting. They were yelling and calling names, so on. They weren't throwing any punches... But, it was close. Then, my mother says, "Alright! Go grab a book and sit down!"

My youngest brother, in response to this, said, "Okay..." and shuffled in the direction of the book shelves; my second youngest brother, in response to this, said, "Aw, come on! Why?!" and after a few moments of attempted argument with the Higher Ups, took the walk of shame and grabbed a book; and my third youngest brother, in response to this, said, "Fine." and made his way to the book shelves. That is how my brothers respond to being told to read.

My sister... If you can't find her... Is probably in her room reading. Now that I think about it... My sister would fall into the category, "Other" because she would be in the middle of "Book reading is important." and "My idea of a good time, is reading." If my mother told me to read a book, my response would be something along the lines of, "Why?? I'm in the middle of something really important..." But, I would go read a book if my parents told me to.

I enjoy reading... Only if it is something that I'm interested in: Sci/Fi, Fantasy, Adventure. Here is a list of books that I enjoyed reading,

  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien
  • Randoms by David Liss
  • all the Minecraft books by Mark Cheverton
  • Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
  • Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling
  • Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

There are a lot of others too... But, off the top of my head... I can't remember them... (I haven't read them in a while...)

Now... I am going to blow your mind... I write books. No... None of them have been published yet and to tell the truth, none of them are worth publishing. You see... I have a really active imagination and so I just pour it into stories that I tell my brothers or on my little laptop. So... Unless your favorite things to read are akin to what Discord (from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) would write, you probably wouldn't enjoy my stories. Now, my topics are intriguing, for example a book that I am working on now is called, 'An Active Imagination'. It is about a boy who when ever he loses focus on what he is doing he time travels just a little. So to him it feels like time just flies when he thinks. But, the reality is he is time traveling. He can only travel forward, and only a few minutes to an hour, but as the book goes on, his powers grow stronger and it turns out that he is the last of an alien race who fled a war. He hid himself on Earth and forgot everything about himself.

See? Doesn't that make you want to read it?? Doesn't that sound awesome? Well... If you want me to post a few chapters of it, then in the comment section post YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF PIE, and I will happily post a few chapters of the book.

I've actually written a lot of short stories through the years. I remember that the first one I ever wrote was back in Alaska... I was 12... I remember that it was titled 'The Story of Herobrine'. It consisted of three chapters (back then... one of my chapters had about four paragraphs) and it was how Herobrine came to exist and how he got stuck in Minecraft. On a side note: it is important to note that this was back when I ate, breathed, and slept Minecraft and believed in Herobrine with every fiber of my being. I've made so many short storied and 'wanna-be' books that I've lost track of them all. And due to moving and computers dying and info being wiped and all that... I've lost all my books. Every last one of them. Therefore... I restarted. The only book that I am working on now, is 'An Active Imagination'.

Well... That just about wraps up my Discussion for today... Please remember to follow me and stay tuned for more. On a side note... If you are still enjoying my posts and would like me to continue... Post what category you fall in and your favorite books (if you have any) in the comment section, below!

Until next time.

Movies

Hello, everyone, and welcome to another discussion! First things first, I would like to apologize for not posting in a while. Because I'm so new to blogging, my mother has to read through my posts before I post them to make sure that I'm not writing too much personal information or rude stuff or using improper grammar. And because she is busy with... Stuff... It takes a long time. Well, if you're still here, the topic of today's discussion is: Movies/TV/YouTube Stuff!

I don't know about you, but I've seen so many movies that I couldn't count them all... One of the many books that my father has is '1000 Movies You Must See Before You Die' and I can honestly say that when I read through it I recognized about 1/8th of the movies it mentioned. I must inform you that they were a collection of Hollywood movies FROM THE EARLY 1900s TO EARLY 2000s. So, those movies it listed that I recognized doesn't include all the modern movies that I've seen. I can safely say that I, Daniel, have watched at least 250 movies. To some of you that might seem like a small number... But, you have to remember that I'm only a teenager. So 250 movies is a lot.

WAIT! I just had a revelation... What about... "RERUNS"? If you include all the times I've watched a movie over and over again... I would have seen at least 1000! Because I watch a movie three, four, maybe even five times depending on how much I like a movie. Now that I think about it... I've spent a lot of time watching movies... Some movies are two-and-a-half, maybe three hours long. And I've watched them over and over and over again.

Like, Star Wars, for example. I love those movies! They never get old to me. If you strap me down to a chair in a white cell and force me to watch EVERY Star Wars movie in order, indefinitely. All that would happen is, I'd be able to recite every scene of every episode a little better. Lord of the Rings is another. Those movies will never get old to me. On a side note, I read the Lord of the Rings novels and can honestly say that I enjoyed the movies more. There were little things that the movies changed. But, by and large, they were about the same. What are some more movies that I could watch over and over again? Hmm... Oh! The Marvel movies! I think that they are doing a great job on those movies! Now, you could hold a gun to my head and ask what my favorite Marvel movie is... And I still couldn't tell you. I don't know! They're all so well done! Another side note, I haven't seen Deadpool yet... Or the more recent X-Men movies... So, I technically haven't seen 'every' Marvel movie. I've seen a few DC movies. But, I don't like those nearly as much.

I've seen every My Little Pony: Equestria Girls movie. Wait... Before I discuss that, let's talk about the TV series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I've stuck to that show like glue, no, like dry oatmeal, since it aired on October 10, 2010. (I was 9 years old) However... I didn't start like that. No, sir! When I first heard of it, I... Well... I acted like a boy. I thought that it would be girly and stupid. It was actually my sister who watched it and said, "Daniel! You gotta watch this!" So, I did. And look at me now. A brony to the core. Isn't it fascinating how life works? Another side note, I still HATE the theme song. "My Little Pony, My Little Pony, ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh, (My Little Pony) I used to wonder what friendship could be (My Little Pony) until you all shared this magic with me. Big adventure, tons of fun, a beautiful heart, faithful and strong, sharing kindness, it's an easy feat, and magic makes it all complete! (My Little Pony) Do you know your all my very best friends?" See... I have it memorized... I can sing it backwards! Please, don't ask why... No one quite knows the reason. It could be that my shoes are too tight, or maybe my head isn't screwed on just right. But, I think the most likely reason of all is that my heart is two sizes too small. But, whatever the reason, my heart or my shoes, I watch every episode hating the theme song.

I watch a lot of TV. But, another thing I spend a lot of time on is YouTube. Music videos, YouTubers, animations, and SFMs make YouTube a place where I love to spend time. I get lost in the nonsense people animate. Sometimes it's very good animation, however, in the case of most SFMs its just rubbish made to make you laugh. (I like to laugh. It makes me feel happy.) I have quite a list of YouTubers who I enjoy watching... Markiplier, Ssundee, MrCrainer, ibxtoycat, UnspeakableGaming, Mumbo Jumbo, MagmaMusen, Genowhirl70, Blue Monkey, Grian, FluffyMixer, Rizzial, PinkSheep, ExplodingTNT, PurpleShep, and Element Animation. A good friend of mine, by the name of Ryan, has a YouTube channel as well: beardoAdept. He's currently trying to get his channel started, so you should totally subscribe to him... It would really help! With that free advertisement out of the way, let's continue!

Now I can't call this blog Daniel's Discussions if it's a one way conversation, so... What are your favorite movies? Do you have a favorite? How often do you watch reruns? How often do you watch TV? Are you now watching MLP:FiM? If you are... Then, SCORE 1 FOR DANIEL!

Well, that's all I'm going to write about today. Again... Sorry for taking so long. I will try to write more often in the future. If you have any concerns or would like me to share my thoughts on something, let me know in the comments. Thanks guys!

Video Games

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first official discussion on my blog! So, get your note pads, Doritos, and Mt. Dew... We are going to be discussing the wonders of VIDEO GAMES!

I'm sure that we've all played at least a few video games in our time. In fact, I can't remember a time when I didn't play video games... And because of this, I have played a lot of video games over the years, from the first Lego video game to Dark Souls III (which I'm still playing). But, out of all these video games that I've played, Minecraft would have to be the one that I've played the most. I still remember the day I first heard the word: I was 10 years old, having a sleepover with my friend Eric. I remember that the conversation went like this:
We had just finished dinner, Eric turned to me and asked,
"Hey, do you know what Minecraft is?" I remember thinking that he meant Minesweeper, so I responded,
"Yes. I'm very good at it."
"Do you want to play it?" Now, it's important to note, that we had been playing Wii games all day (mostly Smash Bros. and Mario Kart) so I was willing to play anything else at that point. So I shrugged and replied,
"Sure. Why not?" So, he led me to his father's Mac and started it up. Now, up until I saw the main screen of Minecraft, I thought that he was talking about Minesweeper. So, when I saw Minecraft I asked,
"What's this?" He looked at me with a confused expression and said,
"You said you knew what Minecraft was..."
"I thought you were talking about the game with the bombs and the numbered blocks."
"Oh! You mean Minesweeper! I see." So, he started me off with my own world and walked me through how the game was played, and in one night, I became addicted to that game. It wasn't until I got started playing the Uncharted games that I stopped playing Minecraft. Now that I think about it... I haven't played Minecraft in a while... But, when I did play it though, I would build magnificent structures and huge redstone machines.

But, before that, I played PlayStation games of all kinds! I remember beating the first Little Big Planet game, I beat most of the Lego Games. When we had a Wii, I beat New Super Mario Bros. and Metroid... We also played Wii Sports a lot. Basically... Until I turned 12, I was restricted to only playing child's games. But, I remember the first "T" rated video game that I ever played... Force Unleashed! Do you remember those games? Or at least heard of them? For those of you who haven't, it takes place right between Episode 4 and 5 of Star Wars. Darth Vader has trained an apprentice in the Dark side of The Force and sends him to kill those who oppose the Empire (mostly rogue Jedi). But, about half way through, the apprentice joins the Rebellion so you spend the rest of the first game preparing to fight Vader. You win the fight with Vader, then you fight The Emperor. You lose the fight with The Emperor, but your friends and the girl you love escape. That's how the first game ends. The second game picks up right after that. You have been cloned and your clone has to defeat Vader. The second game ends on a cliffhanger. If there even is a third Force Unleashed, I have neither heard of it nor played it. (P.S. if there is a third Force Unleashed, please tell me in the comments, thank you!)

That was the range of video games that I had for years. I played the same games and beat the same games over and over. Until I was given the Uncharted series. I loved those four games! I poured so much time into those games. But, like all video games... I collected everything you could collect and did everything you could do... Again and again. You see... I just couldn't find a video game that challenged me. Then another friend of mine by the name of Jack, introduced me to Dark Souls. That game captured me and held me hostage! It challenged me... And I loved it!! I still haven't beaten the first game... I don't go to his house often enough to have beaten it. But, at his house I played the first two games... Now, I own the third game, Dark Souls III: rated "M" for Blood and Violence. That's it... Two words, "Blood, Violence" and there's a setting where you can turn the blood OFF! And, it's not violent, if you've watched Lord of the Rings, you can handle everything that is in Dark Souls III.

Well, I could talk about so much more... But, then this post would take ages to read... It's supposed to be a post, not a book. HA HA! But, don't worry, there will be plenty of that in the future. Have any questions? Any statements? Any suggestions? Please, let me know in the comments. Thank you for reading!

Greetings!

Greetings, everyone! This is the first blog I've ever had, therefore I'm going to make it awesome!

A lot); I enjoy playing video games, listening to music, watching movies/TV/YouTube, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, exploring (basically everything that someone would do outside), reading (despite what what some think, I actually do enjoy reading), building things, taking things apart, eating (especially eating), sleeping, lying on the lush carpet in our basement... Now that I think about it... I actually enjoy every aspect of my life. What else... Oh! I'm a brony... I enjoy watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I'm a responsible, hardworking, funny, smart, strong, Christian, chocoholic, pyromaniac, book writer. To proofread what I write, I read it aloud to myself to see if I can hear any mistakes. #TotallyOutOfBreath
